Select a morning departure time that suits your schedule, and begin with a hotel pickup in Zagreb. Meet your driver-guide, and settle inside your private, air-conditioned car or minivan (depending on the size of your group).
Then, sit back and soak in Croatia’s picturesque countryside as you venture south toward the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Founded in 1949 and Croatia’s largest national park, this stunning, UNESCO-listed natural reserve consists of 16 interconnected and terraced lakes joined by waterfalls, which gush over natural travertine-stone rock faces.
The park is famed for its beauty and the changing hues of its lakes, whose colors shift from azure and turquoise to green and gray depending on their mineral content and the angle of sunlight. In between the lakes, deep forests prevail, providing havens for wildlife, including deer, bear, wild boar, big cats, and many birds.
After about two hours on the road, arrive at the park, and enjoy a guided tour of its wonders. Stride out along the wooden walkways and hiking trails that skirt and snake over the lakes, admiring the spectacular cascades, and gorgeous hues of the waters.
Experience the sound of the crashing falls, and take a boat and electric tram ride to get around, seeing all of the 16 lakes and the cascades if you wish.
After your guided tour and time to explore as you please, relax on your ride back to Zagreb, where your 8-hour tour concludes with a drop-off back at your hotel.
