Depart in the early afternoon from Karakida Station, traveling by car for the 1-hour drive to nearby Machida. You’ll spend the next several hours discovering the outdoor scenery of this area known for its half urban, half rural, geography.
As you walk, you’ll get a unique glimpse of daily life in Japan, stopping interact with local farmers in their fields, visiting religious shrines, and simply enjoy the fresh air. Before you depart, you’ll also get to sit down with a Machida local to ask questions about their life and culture. A translator will accompany during your hike to help facilitate conversations.
