What You Can Expect

Amalfi Coast Day Trip from Sorrento

Marvel at the intricate architectural details of Villa Rufolo

Board your air-conditioned coach outside your central Sorrento hotel (or at another nearby spot, if your hotel is inaccessible to coaches) and meet your guide to begin your day trip along the Amalfi Coast. Settle into your seat and gaze out the windows at the sparkling sea or terraced gardens and pastel-colored buildings, depending on which way you look.

Your first stop is Positano, a tiered village built onto the side of the cliffs. Spend a few minutes capturing the famous views with your camera - or simply your memory - before hopping back on the coach for the next leg of the journey - the town of Amalfi.

Explore Amalfi at your own pace, visiting the iconic multi-colored 9th-century cathedral or browsing the rows of shops along the town’s side-streets. You can even arrange to take a boat tour to the nearby little villages of Conca dei Marini, Maiori and Minor (own expense).

After visiting Amalfi, board the bus once again to climb up to hilltop Ravello, your final stop. This little town is famous for two villas that both have large gardens and breathtaking views of the sea - Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone - and you’ll have free time in Ravello to see them for yourself.

Soak in more of the Amalfi Coast’s famous views on the coach ride back to Sorrento, where your tour finishes back where it began.

This is a wonderful way to experience part of the Amalfi Coast without the stress of driving yourself and trying to park! The tour hits the highlights. You don't get to go into Positano so if that's important to you, drive yourself. If possible, do sit on the right side of the bus but don't worry, the view is spectacular from every seat and stop. The first stop at the Ceramic Shop is great for photo ops and if you want to spend the money, a look at the Emerald Grotto. I think a good number of their items for sale however are made in China, not in the Sorrento region. I noticed another ceramic shop across the street when we were leaving. Amalfi was my favorite stop and I wish there was more time spent in this location. We took the boat ride which was so well worth the extra money to see the coast from the water....breathtaking! However, if you want more time exploring the shops, the church, etc., don't take the boat trip and don't have a sit down lunch. Ravello was nice and quaint with great landscape and water views but I would rather have had more time to explore in Amalfi itself. We hit a Limoncello producer on the ride back which was fun and a neat stop. It's a long day but so well worth it! I traveled with family there were six of us. This trip was one of the top five highlights from our Tour of Italy.

It was a great tour of the Amalfi Coast! Rosella knew her stuff. The only thing I would say was that the speakers inside the bus were toooooo loud! Otherwise, I had a lovely time. We had a decent amount of time in each location and it was truly a dream come true for me!

Nello our tour guide was superb. Funny, informative and really made the day along with the stunning scenery.
Luigi Schumacher was our brilliant driver and I didn't envy him that task one bit!
A full days tour as well leaving at 8am and returning at 5.30pm back to Sorrento. Great lunch, great day!

The driver was very good on those crazy roads, as was the tour guide. My palms were sweating initially but then I got used to the drive! I would have liked to have stopped in Positano, but I understood why we didn't. At least we got to take a lot of nice pics along the way, and I liked how they gave us time to explore Amalfi and Ravello.

We used this trip as an orientation day early in our stay in Sorrento. It proved to be good value day out. This was our first booking with Viator and all went very well. Pre tour instructions were clear and pick up was on time. Our guide, Francesca, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed the drive early in the day and the free time later was just right for us in each location. The day was not rushed and the scenery is spectacular. Francesca offered us an optional boat trip from Amalfi which was 12 euros each. There was no sales pressure to take the trip and it was a nice 45 minutes but later in our stay we took a coastal boat excursion from Sorrento to Amalfi and Positano which covered exactly the same coastline. All in all we would recommend, it was a lovely day.
