Overview

Combine a San Diego sightseeing tour with a trip down to Tijuana on this 10-hour adventure. With a guide, you'll spend the morning in the city to check out attractions such as Little Italy, the Gaslamp Quarter, Balboa Park, and the coastal suburb of La Jolla. Then enjoy a break before heading across the Mexican border to Tijuana, just 20 miles (31 km) away.
  • 10-hour San Diego and Tijuana combo tour
  • See San Diego attractions such as Balboa Park
  • Visit La Jolla on the Pacific coast
  • Take in the bustling atmosphere of Tijuana, just south of the border
Your tour starts downtown in the morning (hotel pickup provided from select locations), where you'll meet your guide for your exploration of San Diego. Visit neighborhoods including Little Italy, East Village, and the Gaslamp Quarter, home to restaurants, bars, and galleries.
Drive north of the city to the upscale coastal community of La Jolla, known for its rocky shore and sea caves, and visit Balboa Park, the jewel of San Diego. Then check out Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, the 'birthplace of California.' Throughout your 4-hour tour, learn about San Diego's history and culture from your guide.
Next, you have a 1-hour break to get some lunch (own expense) before continuing the second half of your tour—traveling about 15 minutes to the US-Mexico border, from where you'll head into Tijuana.
Visit attractions such as Mercado Hidalgo, the River Zone (Zona Rio), and Avenida Revolucion, one of the main streets of town, and perhaps enjoy local cuisine at a restaurant (own expense) or bargain for souvenirs. When your time here ends, you'll be returned to San Diego to end your tour.

Sorry for the length. I wish I could rate the two tours separately. These were two separate tours - first the day trip in San Diego, then the afternoon/evening excursion to Tijuana. I gave this 3 stars because the first tour in San Diego was great. The tour guide was super friendly, informative, enjoyable. He stopped at a nice amount of places to let us roam around and discover things ourselves before setting off on the next part. He liked to hear if we enjoyed each stop and what we thought. However, the second tour was very disappointing. While the tour guide gave us helpful tips on how to bargain and pointed out a few landmarks while driving into Tijuana, I felt that his main interest was just to joke and hang out with his buddies across the border and leave us to ourselves. We toured 2 shops quickly, then went to the restaurant to get tacos. I was looking forward to eating authentic Mexican tacos all day. They were served with just meat. No lime, cilantro, avocado, nothing. I waited for the waitress to come back with some sort of toppings but she never did. Had to pay for the juice with my meal, guess that wasn't included. Meanwhile, our tour guide didn't eat with us, and after we all finished eating our dry naked tacos, the tour guide said, See you at the end of the tour. So we were on our own until the end of the tour. Being a solo female traveler, I was not expecting to roam around for a couple of hours alone with no more guide. We were only introduced to one street and it was very touristy. I appreciated the free time to shop on our own, but I felt there was such a huge lack of direction, information, and connection from the tour guide. I don't feel like I learned that much about Tijuana in general, didn't even know what area I was in, and wanted to see more places or sites. I didn't intend to pay that much money for a border hop and plain tacos. Not worth the money. Found somewhere else to get my tacos that came with toppings. Also, at the very beginning of the day, I was on the phone with the man in the office trying to ask him to describe the tour guide or the tour bus because I didn't know where anybody was. There was one bus there and the people on it told me they weren't going to Tijuana so I thought it was a different tour. He described the tour guide's outfit incorrectly, and when I said I don't see that, he hung up on me. Rude and unprofessional. Eventually the guide himself saw me and everything was fine. I recommend the day tour, but please, find someone else to take you to Tijuana.

The combo tour is actually a split tour. Both parts are excellent. The San Diego part is fantastic. The Tijuana part is a bit off because the third part is not responding well at the counter. They are late. You have to wait for an hour for the Tijuana trip. The guide who hops after crossing the border was a cool guy. The tour was great, however, need more time to explore. They possibly could include the beach. Overall, I enjoyed my trip.

The trip was worth the money. Our time was very limited to see the various popular places in San Diego and Ti Juana.. the tour guides took us aroun town and told us the history and fun stories about the places we visited..
Our trip to Ti Juana was the highlight of the day. Juan, our guide was very knowledgeable of the history and fun facts of the area.
We went to Revolution avenue and had a taste of various flavored tequila local to the area. He showed us the decent places to get silver jewelry and leather purses made by artisan in the area. What a great day trip and I recommend it to anyone who wants to see places without too much walking.
