  • Explore St Peter’s Basilica on a fully guided Vatican walking tour and see the famous La Pieta sculpture
  • Choose from four different times, or upgrade to a small-group tour (maximum 12)
Vatican tours with skip-the-line access are sought-after, so even the fast-track lines are long. This experience includes admission through a special entrance, so there are no lines whatsoever. Follow your guide directly inside the vast collection of private artwork that is the Vatican Museums.

Walk through the Gallery of the Maps and Gallery of Tapestries as you listen to tales of Vatican intrigue. Gaze at artifacts such as timeworn yet fascinating Italian maps, and admire the sculptures and candelabras of the Gallery of Candelabras. Stop for photos in front of the Pigna statue in the Pinecone Courtyard, designed by Dontao Bramante.

Raphael’s Rooms are a series of galleries that highlight the talent of the lauded Renaissance artist himself. Pass through the rooms, and then step inside the Sistine Chapel — the pope’s personal place of worship and a highlight of any Vatican trip. Stand beneath Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, which cloaks the ceiling, and admire The Last Judgement, his colorful mural that adorns a wall.

After your Sistine Chapel visit, continue to St Peter’s Basilica, the symbolic heart of the Catholic church. Learn about its history and see more Vatican art including Michelangelo’s La Pietà, which was sculpted when the maestro was only 24 years old. Gaze at the baldachino by Bernini, and then say goodbye to your guide in St Peter’s Square.

Keep in mind that St Peter's Basilica and St Peter's Square might be unavailable on Wednesdays due to the weekly Papal Audience. As an alternative, you'll be offered an extended itinerary within the Vatican Museums, which still includes the Sistine Chapel and Raphael's Rooms. If you want to make sure that St Peter's Basilica and Square are included in your tour, don't select Wednesday as your travel date.

If you want to enhance your Vatican experience, select one of the following experiences:

Small-Group Tour at 8:10am:
Enter the Vatican Museums as soon as it opens, before the other lines enter. Your tour is limited to 12 people for personal attention and information about the Vatican’s must-see sights.

Tour at 7:30pm:
Explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel after the doors close to the general public. A visit to St Peter’s Basilica is not included.

There may have been just 21 on our tour, and I was appreciative of skipping the line, but there was too much crowding along with 100 other small group tours going on at the same time. It was hard to really see and appreciate the beauty of it all while being pushed and shoved by others.

Our guide Anna was wonderful...informative, interesting and made our tour very enjoyable. Would highly recommend this tour

The museum and Sistine chapel experience were greatly enhanced by our knowledgeable guide, Marco. We did wait over an hour in a highly disorganized line to get into the museum. The other difficulty we had was finding the sign in spot— it was not near the museum entrance, but across the street and down a set of steps. So: not the seamless experience we had hoped for.

This was an excellent tour with an excellent guide Guiseppe. He spoke english very well and was very knowledgeable and passionate when explaining everything we saw in the Vatican museums, and sistine chapel.

Definitely recommend using the skip the line feature. Our time was 8am and already there was a long line waiting to get in. Our guide did a great job of keeping us all together and informed.

I've done this tour before and decided to do it again when traveling with adult children. The tour did not disappoint and our guide this time was even more knowledgeable than the previous on we had. All information on the voucher was accurate and we had no problem meeting up with our guide on the day of the tour.

We (two of us) took the Small Group 0810 am skip the line tour the first week of October 18. It was so worth it. I can’t imagine the time we would have wasted trying to find and negotiate the lines and crowds even that early in the morning. We met as directed, the directions they emailed were right on and I am I not patient w those who can’t give accurate directions. So I was relieved upfront it wasn’t going to be an Italian goat rope (i.e. it’s over there....). Maria Theresa was our guide, we had a group of 12 English speakers. I can’t say enough good things about her. She is kind, patient and Efficient! This woman does not get ruffled in the crowds! She is aware of everything going on around her. Her verbal directions are excellent while leading a group especially as there can be instances where you can’t see her but she guides you where you are going. In spite of that, her knowledge and love for her subject are even more impressive. She is a student of archeology and the facts and dates and stories she can rattle off are mind boggling. It’s evident she loves to share Rome’s history and story the way she leads you through the tours saying, “Now come over here, I want you to see this and share with you......”. This tour was so worth it, I can’t recommend it enough.

This tour was a great experience. Our guide Lorelei was so knowledgeable and informative. She made navigating the crazy crowds a breeze. There’s so much to take in when visiting the Vatican, so it was so nice to have Lorelei there to explain and share the history behind it all.
