What You Can Expect

Rome Highlights Segway Tour with Optional Skip-the-Line Colosseum Ticket

See the best of historical Rome on a two-wheeled, personal Segway

Your Segway adventure starts as you meet your tour leader in central Rome, where you’ll receive an iPod with audio-visual summaries that provide information about each stop. After an orientation and practice session to get familiar with your electric 2-wheeled Segway, take off through Rome’s historical center.

Following your tour leader, pass by the Roman Forum, home to the ruins of Ancient Rome, and pause for a photo op of Piazza del Campidoglio, a square designed by Michelangelo in 1538. Cruise around the Campo de’ Fiori on your way to Piazza Navona, where you’ll stop to check out its fountain, designed by Italian sculptor Bernini in 1651, and admire the many street artists.

Next, glide over to the Pantheon, the stately temple that dates back to 126 AD, and if your tour leader tells you there’s time, you may go inside to look up at its dome. Continue to the Church of St Ignatius of Loyola (Chiesa di Sant'Ignazio di Loyola), where, again, you may enter if time permits to see its ceiling fresco, and then make your way to the baroque Trevi Fountain to throw a coin in the water, ensuring your return to Rome, according to legend.

Finally, zoom over to the Spanish Steps at Piazza di Spagna before returning to your starting point, where your tour ends.

Please note: the order sights suggested in the description may be subject to change on the day of your tour.

Most of Romes stunning sites ticked off in a memorable three hours. The narrow cobbled streets and vast crowds dont make great bedfellows with Segways - unlike Chicago and Madrid, with their wide, sweeping promenades - but our guide was patient and kept us rolling along nicely. The quality of the machines was a step up from what I had used before, which made them great fun. If youre of a nervous disposition then Segways may not be for you, but if youre prepared to give it a go then youll be rewarded with a highlight of your trip.

This tour was the highlight of our three week tour of Italy. Our guide, Eddy, was knowledgeable, informative and fun! We were able to see all the highlights of Rome and had a blast on the Segway. It only took a few minutes to learn the ropes and we were off.
I will definitely do a Segway tour whenever I get the opportunity...This is one tour that you shouldn't miss!

Bruno was our easy going, personable guide who was very knowledgeable about Roman history and culture and enjoyed sharing information about his city. He was an effective trainer who well responded to differing abilities of riders and was very adept at maneuvering our group of 6 through highly crowded areas. Great intro to Rome and fun way to cover quite a bit of territory to acclimate yourself.
