Food was fine, no variance from a fixed menu and staff not over welcoming and did rush you along during the meal.

Dinner was fantastic, a must do while in Reykjavik!! Unfortunately the clouds and a full moon made seeing the Northern Lights impossible. My only suggestion would be that they cut the boat ride short when clouds, moon and very little solar activity are in concert. By the end of the ride we were feeling a little captive.

The food was good- tasty and a variety of disges. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. The boat ride was well organized and the narration was informative. Brace yourself though- I've never been colder in my life. They provide good coveralls, just make sure they don't run out of your size. Saw the lights even though it was close to the end of the season. Overall definitely recommend this combo tour. My only recommendation would be to make it a little easier to find the boat after the dinner.

Our first evening, we enjoyed a 9-course dinner at Kopar in the Old Harbor. Starters- Icelandic scallops ceviche with dill mayonnaise and wagame salad Cod tongues with sherry and garlic cream cheese and lemon dip and Duck spring rolls with date sauce and pear salad. Main courses- Baked ling with potatoes, cauliflower, and creamy white wine sauce Salted filet of Icelandic cod with butternut squash purée, quinoa salad, and mandarin sauce Icelandic filet of lamb with truffle mashed potatoes, Bernaise sauce, and mushroom and port purée. Desserts- Dalm cheesecake with skyr sorbet and raspberry sauce Caramel cake with lemon sorbet, Italian meringue, dulce de leche, and white chocolate mousse Skyr almond crème brulée with skyr pudding, apple compote, and blueberry sorbet.

The Northern Lights are still a mystery!

Bad weather caused me to postphone the cruise from the schedulled day, but dinner went on as scheduled and was very good. A great introduction to Icelandic food traditions. So, two days later we had crystal clear weather and the cruise went off as scheduled. It was cold and I had good cold weather gear of my own, but the boat had survival suits available for those not so warmly dressed. The lights showed up late and the captian intentionally slowed our return to port, stretching the cruise out to over 3 hours to give us a maximum viewing experience. Well worth it. FYI Kopar is located right in the Old Harbor and the cruise office is just a few steps away, as is the boarding place for the boat. Very convenient.

Kopar fine dining was an explosion of flavors. Just awesome.
Rebooked the cruise after first cancellation but it was cancelled again on January 1st.

The restaurant experience was superb. The food was excellent and the service along with the staff were exceptional.
The cruise to watch the northern lights was good, but we did not see the lights. The company promised to credit us for another trip.

Disappointed that the lights did not provide a better display. We did see the lights on another day

Do not book this combination. Kopar dining had no information on the cruise. It is apparently a combination put together by a boating company. We were notified the cruise would then go by bus - not cruise, 30 minutes beforehand. We cancelled and had a hectic 'fine dining' dinner trying to figure out what was going on. In Reykjavik you can easily find any restaurant has a 'gourmet local' tasting menu and there are many Northern Light tours to choose from. The lights aren't every night depending on weather and other factors, so book it separately once you are in Reykjavik. The Kopar dinner had some good highlights, but the raw cold lamb I was told several times was medium. I understand the pink color but cold to the touch isn't medium. 3 out of the 9 courses were a dessert. If dessert is your preference that is fine, but I was still hungry after the 5 morsels and under cooked lamb. This was basically the only negative of my entire trip and tours to 6 countries.
