Southwest Mauritius Day Trip: Chamarel Waterfall, Trou aux Cerfs, and Seven Coloured Earth

Explore the Southwest of Mauritius

Begin your 8-hour day of adventure on Mauritius with convenient pickup at your hotel anywhere on the island. Pickup time varies according to your location, please see Additional Information section for details.

Climb into a comfortable tour vehicle with your guide and group of 15 people or fewer and relax during the journey. Your guide will provide commentary on the passing sights, including native flora and fauna. Pass through Le Morne, La Prairie, and Macondé on the way to Chamarel in the Rivière Noire District.

Arrive at Chamarel Waterfall, the country's tallest, which plunges 328 feet (100 meters) against a natural backdrop and makes for impressive photos. Next stop is the famous Seven Coloured Earth, a rainbow of striated volcanic rocks.

Continue to the La Rhumerie de Chamarel distillery, where you will sample the spirits and enjoy a traditional Mauritian 3-course lunch.

Following lunch, travel to a viewpoint over Black River Gorges National Park, then the secluded Grand Bassin Lake and the enormous volcanic crater Trou aux Cerfs.

The day's last stop is the Shop of Ship Model, where you can see skilled craftsmen at work on ship miniatures, some of which take months.

End your full day of exploration with drop-off back at your hotel.

The key touristic attractions of Mauritius in a well organised and professionally run tour. Very good vehicle, professional driver and guide. Recommended.

Excellent day out which we enjoyed very much. It was a full day but worth seeing other parts of the island. Natalie our guide was very knowledgeable and we were a small group. The driver was also very good. I booked the trip the day before on my iPhone via the app and everything went smoothly.
Lunch was good and included in the price.
I would recommend this trip but remember to take mosquito repellent with you to the Waterfall. This is the only place of the whole week I was bitten!

Excellent day out. Very friendly and knowledgeable guide (Natalie) and good driver. Packed a lot into the day without feeling rushed. Lunch (included) at the Rhumerie was very nice as well. Highly recommend as a good way of seeing the south West of the island.

The guides paschal and samir were excellent. the visit to the rum factory was great lots to taste but a little rushed. the waterfall and scenery were beautiful.Another fantastic lunch. A trip i would strongly recommend but the views i hope would be better on a clearer day.
