After pickup from your hotel in an air-conditioned coach, head to the capital city of Port Louis with your guide, learning about the island’s history and the famous flightless dodo as you go.
Stop briefly at the Citadel for scenic views of the harbor before heading into the city center for a guided walking tour. Take in the panoramic views of Fort Adelaide, as well as tour St. Louis Cathedral and Place d’Armes. Wander the stalls of the colorful Central Market and make a stop at the Le Cauden Waterfront Shopping Mall and Blue Penny Museum. This small gem of a museum is home to some of the oldest and rarest stamps on the island.
Once you’ve explored the city and worked up an appetite, make your way to Escale Creole, where you’ll be served a traditional island lunch. (See sample menu in the Itinerary section below.)
Continue through Moka, Saint Pierre, and Nouvelle Decouverte for mountains views, stopping at pineapple plantations along the way. Then head to the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden. These colonial-era gardens are home to impressive tropical displays of exotic trees, flowers, and amazonica lilies.
Make a final stop at Sugar World, where you can learn about the history of sugar, taste local products, and tour the museum. Your tour will end with a scenic ride back to your hotel.
