Overview

Explore the ancient Maya cities of Tulum and Coba on a full-day tour from Playa del Carmen, then snorkel two vibrant reefs along the Caribbean coast. You’ll learn about Maya history and culture, climb the highest pyramid in the Yucatan, visit white sand beaches, and see marine wildlife in a natural environment. This 12-hour tour includes entrance fees, breakfast, lunch, and all equipment, with hotel pickup and drop-off in Playa del Carmen.
  • 12-hour combination tour from Playa del Carmen
  • Visit two Maya archeological sites
  • Learn about Maya history and culture
  • Climb a pyramid in the jungle
  • Snorkel and spot wildlife at two different reefs
  • Breakfast and lunch included
Meet a driver between 6:15am and 7:30am at your hotel in Playa del Carmen, then begin the 40-mile (65-km) trip to Tulum, with a light breakfast to enjoy along the way. Upon arrival at Tulum archeological site, explore the temples, pyramids, and ancient frescoes with the guide, and learn about the daily lives and beliefs of the ancient Maya.

Following your tour of Tulum, continue to Coba, a sprawling city that was once home to 50,000 people. Still covered in thick vines and foliage, Coba is a dramatic contrast to Tulum, and you can climb to the top of Nohoch Mul, the tallest pyramid on the Yucatan Peninsula. The tour includes a ride on a “tricycle taxi” to the main pyramid, or you can opt to pedal a bike along the flat paths from the Coba entrance.

Pause for lunch by the Coba Lagoon, dining on local cuisine and handmade tortillas, then head to Tulum beach for an afternoon of sun, sand, and snorkeling. You’ll travel by boat to two different snorkel spots, perfect for swimming alongside schools of bright fish, colorful corals, and other marine wildlife.

This full-day tour concludes with return transfer to Playa del Carmen, and drop-off at your hotel.

Telum tour was good with knowledgeable guide until all the herds of people arrived. Then we turned into one of the mindless rabble that infested Telum. Go early. Coba was short and sweet. Not super busy like Telum. Get the rickshaw bike for a fun ride to the ruins and the Coba pyramid. Cenote was fun. The snorkeling was terrible. Water was murky and the current was too strong. You had to work hard to get back to the boat after they dumped us in the water with zero instructions. No one could speak any English. They did it for the money and didnt really care about our safety or our experience. That was a huge disappointment.
