What You Can Expect

Wine Day Trip from Paris to Champagne

Enjoy a Champagne Tasting in the Vineyards

Learn how Champagne is made, and at the end of this 11-hour day tour, you’ll be able to answer: What is a Blanc de Blancs, a Blanc de Noirs? How is Champagne rosé made? Do ‘Grands Crus’ and ‘Premiers Crus’ exist in Champagne? Is there a specific Champagne terroir?

After early morning hotel pickup in Paris, travel with your knowledgeable guide approx. 90 minutes east of the city. En route, bite into flaky croissants and pastries while hearing about the winemaking region of Champagne and its heritage.

Arrive at your first Champagne estate of the day, such as Moët & Chandon, Mumm, or Veuve Clicquot (depending on availability). Step inside cellars, walk through a maze of galleries and enjoy a tasting at the end of the guided tour. Come away knowing the secrets behind the méthode champenoise.

Back in your air-conditioned minivan, pass through the vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, Cote des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne, between Reims, Ay and Epernay. As you admire the colorful landscapes, learn how to distinguish the three different Champagne grapes: chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier.

Settle in at a family-run Champagne estate, where you’ll meet the winemaker and enjoy a delicious meal of traditional food, paired with a Champagne tasting.

After lunch, visit the legendary Hautvillers, a charming French village. Stop at the abbey where Benedictine Monk Dom Perignon first made the sparkling wine more than three hundred years ago.

Then, discover another family-run winery and depending on availability, see a sabrage (opening a bottle with a blade) or a dégorgement à la volée (pop open the bottle, shooting out Champagne). Here, you’ll get to taste authentic Champagnes largely unavailable in the rest of the world.

You’ll be dropped off back in central Paris in the evening.

I wish I could rate higher. This was a highlight of our entire Eiropean vacation. Clement was such a great tour guide. He was so knowledgeable about wine and champagne and the wine business. He was also a pleasure to hang with for the entire day. Thoroughly enjoyed Veuve Clicot! Highly recommended!

This certainly was a highlight of our time in France. We felt fortunate to have such a knowledgeable guide in Clement. Clement's experience gained from working both in Paris and abroad really added to the experience. Clement had both studied and worked in Australia which really helped us relate the Champagne experience to our own wine experience. The tour itself was well thought out. Taittinger was an incredible location and the tunnels that house the bottles of wine are as stunning as the wine itself. Lunch at Champange Julien Chopin was simple but delicious. A perfect match for the tastings. And we finished our tour with a visit to Dom Caudron. An amazing facility in such a small village. This was a great day and recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn more about Champagne, or to just visit stunning countryside while tasting delicious Champagne

Incredible tour with Clement. He was very personable and knowledgeable and all the wineries we visited were fantastic. We started our day with a tour and tasting at Moet and Chandon, and then visited two smaller wineries Julien Chopin and Dom Caudron. All were outstanding and we learned a lot about the champagne making process. This tour was definitely a highlight of our visit to Paris.

Richard was great - picked us up at our hotel on time, wonderful drive to the countryside, wealth of information on region and champagne making. Lunch at the small, family owned winery was fantastic - and they kindly accommodated our vegetarian meal request. Highly recommended for a day trip out of Paris.

The trip to Champagne was really fun and educational. The guide was informative and entertaining. We enjoyed the tour of Moet and Chandon, the lunch was very tasty, and the tastings were delicious. Our only complaint was that we were told to be ready at 7 am for pickup at our hotel. We were picked up late and then had to drive through Paris to pick up people at two other places. It would be better for everyone to meet the driver at a central location, such as the drop off location.

This tour was a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Paris. We thoroughly enjoyed it and Victor, our guide was wonderful, knowledgeable, thoughtful and caring.
Moët and Chandon guys were so polished ... voting them best dressed! We were so surprised with the cellars, the tradition and the care in the production of champagne. We enjoyed our visit to Julien Chopin and the lunch was delicious with the champagne pairings. And how can we forget Dom Caudron, we have a bottle! I will definitely recommend a wine tour of the Champagne region. Do it!!
The following day at the D-Day tour at Normandy we recommended this Champagne region wine tour with the other groups.
Again, many thanks to Victor.

Fantastic tour guide - very friendly and knowledgeable. Every stop was very enjoyable and there is soooo much champagne to taste! Loved the small group and the quality vehicle. The lunch stop was delicious! The towns you visit are very quiet and small, there's not a great country-side vibe as there are no cafes or shops or even many people in the villages. Go for the champagne, not the 'quaint-village' experience.

I highly recommend this tour. I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Victor was an excellent driver/guide/host, and the day was well thought out, executed well, and served as the perfect introduction to the Champagne wine growing region. The visits to Hautvillers and Moet and Chandon were both enjoyable, as well our visit to a local growers' cooperative. My favorite part of the day was the lunch visit to a small producer in a quaint village. The tour size was also perfect, intimate, enjoyable and fun.
