Your elegant and educational culinary experience takes place in the Garden District. Choose a lunch or dinner session and make your way to the lovely 19th‐century Queen Anne home, where you’ll be greeted by a friendly guide for the 3.5‐hour session. Grab a seat at the kitchen bar for a close‐up view of the food prep area, and enjoy wine and beer service as your chef‐instructor gets started.
Your lesson includes the preparation of four classic Creole and Cajun dishes. Depending on the season, your menu may feature filé sausage gumbo, shrimp étouffée, trout meunière with shrimp and roasted pecans, banana bread pudding and more. Tune in but keep your hands clean as chef handles the cooking and delves into the history of Louisiana’s soulful cuisine, including the diverse cultural influence that distinguishes not only the region’s food, but customs and surroundings.
While chef is plating your delicious meal, take a guided tour of the lovely home. Then head to the dining room for an intimate party with your hosts and fellow fine‐food enthusiasts. Relish the decadence of the 3‐ or 4‐course meal paired with the limitless wine and beer service. Don’t leave without the recipes from your lesson to try at home!
