What You Can Expect

Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Centre Admission Ticket

Freddy the peacock

Make your way to the Ardastra Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Center, located just a few minutes' drive from downtown Nassau. Your admission ticket is good for opening hours, between 9am and 5pm daily. The center was created by Jamaican horticulturist Hedley Edwards, who later brought the famous Caribbean flamingos from the southern Bahamas as a contrast to the abundant greenery.

Explore the 4 acres (1.6 hectares) of verdant plant life and tropical gardens at your own pace. Take a break on a limestone bench hidden in a secluded corner, cross a footbridge as a kingfisher wades below and snap photos of the informal gardens. Watch the Bahamian ducks and swans paddle around the pond as freshwater turtles sun themselves on the rocks. While walking the Gardens, friendly and informed staff will answer questions while you explore.

Light refreshments are available at the canteen, and there is a gift shop featuring garden- and nature-themed souvenirs.

Your ticket includes admission to the 'Flamingo Experience', occurring at 10:30am, 2pm and 4pm daily and featuring the Bahamas' National Bird, the Caribbean Flamingo.

This is a great zoo and gardens! We loved feeding the birds and standing RIGHT next to the flamingos! It was a small zoo, so you could move through it quickly if you wanted 45 minutes to a few hours, depending. The people were very welcoming. And buying the ticket directly here was WAY smarter than doing a cruise excursion.

We had a great time at the Ardasta Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Centre in Nassau, Bahamas! Our whole family was together and we were able to get a family photo with some of the flamingos walking around us! It was a great time! Both little and 'big' kids enjoyed themselves! Thank you!

Small, but very nice little Zoo. The flamingos were running around us. The flamingo show was great, we even had the chance to make photos with the kids and the flamingos. No additional hidden costs for photos etc..

The Ardastra Gardens was beautiful. Not as large as I thought but still nice. It was a bit of a hike from the cruise ships to the bus depot, then when we got dropped off it was yet another hike to the actual zoo. That being said the zoo was not crowded. Self guided quiet walk through amazing foliage and animals not normally seen in zoos around here. Some areas were still being worked on from Hurricane Matthew but most of them were open to the public. It was worth the money. Just wish we knew ahead of time of the walking distances. Take good walking shoes for sure.

Lovely seeing the wide variety of birds and other animals. The Flamingo March was good as was the bird feeding.
