Following convenient pickup from your Bonaire hotel or accommodation, set out in a rugged tour vehicle for the 'wild side' of the island. Travel almost exclusively over dirt roads to the Eastern shore of Bonaire to visit the Eastern Lighthouse and Spelonk Cave. Have a look around and the stalagmites, stalactites and Indian inscriptions that line the cave's walls, floor and ceiling.
During the drive toward Lagoen, turn onto the Bara di Karta Trail, which winds through several different types of landscapes and is a great place to see Bonaire's great variety of flora and fauna. Pass some 'kunukus', or small-scale farms along the trail, as well as some tsunami boulders and the tallest tree in Bonaire. At the top of Bara di Karta Hill, snap photos of scenic views over the island.
Settle down for a leisurely picnic of snacks and light refreshments under the tamarind trees before returning to your hotel for drop-off.
