Make your way to the ferry pier at Sok Kwu Wan, Lamma Island, which is easily reached via a 30-minute ferry ride from central Hong Kong.
Meet your guide and tour group there, where you'll get outfitted for the day with a kayak, life vest, and paddle. Following your experienced sea kayak guide, launch into Picnic Bay and begin your paddle, which will take you around the northern tip of Lamma Island to Yung Shue Wan. Pass first through an ancient fishing village, where you will see a traditional fish farm. Continue through the East Lamma Channel, where you can get views of the skyscrapers that line the Hong Kong coastline. The contrast between bustling, modern Hong Kong and the sparsely populated Lamma Island is striking.
Go ashore on a deserted beach for a picnic lunch, then head for Yang Shue Wan. Once there, you can choose to paddle through the power station or leave your boats and explore the village on foot.
Your tour finishes in Yang Shue Wan, a bohemian enclave with plenty to explore. Ferries depart back to Hong Kong Island every 40 minutes.
