What You Can Expect

Dubrovnik Super Saver: Mt Srd Cable Car Ride plus Old Town and City Walls Walking Tour

Explore Dubrovnik Old Town with your guide

Mt. Srđ Cable Car Ride (1 Hour): Meet your guide near Pile Gate and then walk over to the cable car station, just a few minutes walk from there. Hop into the comfortable cable car for the ride up steep Mt. Srđ. Be sure to stand at the back of the car for an eye-popping view of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, or Stari Grad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe.

At the top of the mountain, take some time to enjoy the view of the blue Adriatic Sea. They say that on a clear day, you can see 37 miles (67 km) away. Take 20 minutes to be awestruck by the views and then head down to the Old Town again for the next portion of the tour.

Dubrovnik Old Town and City Walls Tour (3.5 hours): At Pile Square, the area in front of Pile Gate, one of three ways to enter the Old Town through the thick walls, start the walking tour. The first stop is at Onofrio’s Fountain, a circular domed structure that, for centuries, has been the source of Old Town’s drinking water.

Then move on to the Franciscan Monastery, which boasts a gorgeous Gothic courtyard and one of the oldest working pharmacies in Europe. Continue walking down the limestone-clad Stradun, one of the widest and straightest streets in Old Town, until you reach the Renaissance-era Sponza Palace, which is today the home of the state archives. Other highlights you’ll hit along the way include the city’s bell tower, the Church of St. Blaise, dedicated to the patron saint of Dubrovnik, and the opulent Rector’s Palace. Walk a bit further on to explore the Cathedral of the Assumption, a Baroque and Mannerist-style church that was rebuilt after a fire in the 18th century.

Finally, head over to an entryway up onto the walls with your guide, hearing about the history of these impressive fortifications. As you strol along the walls, note the gorgeous views of the Adriatic, as well as the towers at each corner of the wall, including Minčeta Tower, St John’s Fortress and Fort Bokar.

After you’ve walked in a complete circle (or, in this case, a square), head back to Pile Square for the end of the tour.

We had so much fun with Barbara on our half day tour of Dubrovnik. The weather was beautiful as she beat the crowds to the Cable Car, toured us around Old Town and walked the walls with us. It was an excellent introduction to the city. We were lucky to have a small group of only 8 or so which made it very easy to interact. Highly recommended.

Our guide, Mia, was excellent. Her English was extremely good and easily understood. There was a fair amount of walking involved, so not suitable for compromised walkers. Mia used the very clear audio system so that we could all hear her even if we were in the back of the group. She answered all questions asked of her, and she was thoughtful in giving the group time for picture taking and restroom breaks. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Dubrovnik for the first time.

Make sure you are well prepared for the tour, good shoes, water and sun protection and you are good to go. The tour provides headsets, making it very easy to listen to your guide while looking around. You start at Pile gate and walk to the cable car from there. It is only a short trip up, with a short waiting time. The view is amazing and you get free time to explore. The tour continues in the old town, via the east gate. They manage to avoid a lot of stairs, making it an interesting and comfortable tour to learn more about Old Town. The last bit is the city walls, by that time you have already been on the tour for 3 hours, so you get the option to continue with the guide or get your wall tickets and go on a later date. The tickets are valid for quite some time 3 months afaik, so about half the group opted out to do the walls on a later date. We stayed and together with the guide did the whole round on the walls with the rest of the group. The guide was wonderful, she knew a lot, happy to take questions, take photos and adjust her pace to the group. If you want to have a good introduction to the town and its history, this is the tour to take. Since it is a long tour, your preparation is important. Also, your wall ticket includes the entrance to Fort Lovrijenac, which you can visit in your own time. Great value for your money.

This was well organised. Really liked the audio box so could easily hear the guide at all times. Guide was very knowledgeable and told us lots about Dubrovnik and it's history.
Felt the right amount of time was allocated to each part.
The views from cable car are fabulous.
Liked the fact the walls ticket could be used when you want as it was really hot after the cable car and town so this gave time to cool down. Could even use another day if wanted.
It was very hot on the walls but there are a few bars for drinks. Great views again.
Would reccommend this trip.

Had a very good time with Zoran who gave us historical details about the city, especially as we trekked all around the walls wear good shoes, and be sure to have a hat if it's sunny like it was when we were there. It was fun chatting with him also about the situation the city went through during the Balkan War it was under siege and his personal experiences then as a kid. Great views of the area from the top of the mountain.

Although a bit pricey despite the discount, I recommend this tour. We had a fantastic guide named Katarina. She was very knowledgeable and wanted to make sure we were getting what we were interested in. She remembers I like Game of Thrones so she made sure to find me to take pictures of me at certain locations that were in GoT. Be prepared for a lot of walking especially the ups and downs of the City Walls part of the tour.

This is a great deal. The cable car and walls each cost 150 kuna anyway so you're essentially only paying another 150 kuna for a guided tour. I really enjoyed it and the guide shows you some good photo spots, teaches you history, and helps you dodge the other tours.
