After early morning pickup at your hotel in Colombo or Mount Lavinia by tuk-tuk, you'll be transferred to the train station to start your day trip to Kandy. During the 3-hour rail journey, admire the scenery out the window until you arrive at the station in Kandy to meet your private driver, who takes you on a tour by tuk-tuk.
Kandy is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for being the last stronghold of the Sinhalese kings during the war with the Portuguese in the 16th and 17th centuries. Your exploration of the city takes you to Kandy Market Hall and Kandy Lake, where you'll enjoy the upper lake drive. The most significant sight you'll see is the Temple of the Tooth, a sacred Buddhist place of worship. You'll also visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya before being dropped off at the train station in Peradeniya to board the train back to Colombo in the early evening.
When you arrive in Colombo, you'll be picked up by tuk-tuk for the transfer back to your hotel, where your day trip ends.
