Boy was our guide. He did a great job. He took us to the three kings monument and two Wats before shopping at the food market with Bento Box in hand. We tried 11 different foods topped off with dessert. Just make sure you are comfortable riding in light street traffic and you will have a great time.
We enjoyed touring the city by bike. Our guide was awesome and we were able to see so much. We were quickly introduced to the local cuisine in the market, it was a full immersion. It was an incredible way to see the city.
Absolutely fantastic! My guide was 'boy' and he was just incredible. I highly recommend this. Note - you WILL be riding with traffic at some points and for me that was a bit scary but exciting. Boy showed us some wonderful traditions at a temple and showed us the three king's monument and many other places before we went to the local market and shopped around. You really get involved in the shopping and picking out what foods to eat. It's a great experience - your booty will be sore at the end of the night but well worth it. They provide water.
We had a great time with Boi. He took great care of us on the busy roads of Chiang Mai. The food was delicious. Visi to market was the best part of a tour. Highly recommended tour and we would do it again
What a fun time. We group of 5 rode through many streets at a casual pace on very nice quality bikes. Our guide was most attentive to our safety, gave detailed information about the food and some sites we visited. If you like riding, food, and a different view of the lovely town, this is a great way to go. I schedule this before the return day to home, 30 hours of planes and sitting.
After making our way to the Grasshopper Tours office we met Boi, our guide and tried out our bikes and helmets to make sure they were the right size and fit. Both were of a very high standard.
Boi went through some hand signals and a brief outline of what we needed to do at intersections, in any heavy traffic areas and just generally throughout the tour. I personally hadn't ridden a bike for a long time but the Chiang Mai city area is very flat and the traffic was very considerate of cyclists.
Our first stop was for a juice and then some temples. Boi explained all food/drinks and the areas we went to very well. He was an exceptional guide. We then rode to a local market area which covered food stalls as well as fruit, veg and meat areas. Lots to see, sample and smell. As we looked around Boi would buy us things to eat. After we had all our goodies we went back to where the food stalls were and set up our feast. I think in all we had rice, soups, curries, meats, veg and fruit. So much to sample and all really interesting. Boi explained everything including the traditional Lana way of having a meal. Lastly we rode back across town to a restaurant where we had dessert and drank tea.
All in all a great value for money tour with a fantastic guide. It was a really great way to see Chiang Mai and sample the food.

Two of us did the evening food tour by bike, and I really highly recommend it! You won't experience Chiang Mai like this any other way!
Perhaps most importantly, our tour guide, Boi, was very concerned about safety and obviously very practiced in keeping the group safe. He instructed us on hand signals - left, right, stop, slow down, get to the side - and he also called them out verbally. If there was ever any small doubt that we wouldn't all cross the road safely or together, he stoped and waited for us to go as a safe group.
We mostly road on little back streets - little places that showed you parts of Chiang Mai you might otherwise not see, but these are also streets with few to no cars on them. The streets are almost all flat, you go at an easy pace, and riding in the evening keeps the heat down, so pretty much anyone can handle this, and all will enjoy it. I hadn't riden a bike in years, but quickly felt really comfortable with Boi in charge, and felt I could look at my surroundings and enjoy Chiang Mai because of his leadership.
The bikes are in great condition, are sized to fit you, and have lights, bells, new helmets, and all you need.
And Boi is also a great tour guide! He tells you plenty of things you would never have know, about the food and the sites. He is fun and funny, kind, genuine, light hearted, and truly enjoyed sharing his culture with us.
And the food! It was delicious, adventurous, and plentiful! We went to an amazing market where Boi chose whatever looked fresh and delicious, which we then shared, and stopped at a few roadside stands of surprising food items before finishing with dessert. We would never have known what dishes to pick, what these things were, or gotten such a unique taste of Northern Thai food without this tour.
Without question, one of the best things you can do in Chiang Mai!
