Make your way to Doc Porter’s Distillery, on the South End of Charlotte—tours start at 4pm or 5:30pm on Saturdays. Meet the owner of Doc Porter’s, and learn the complex process of distilling firsthand. See where grain from local, North Carolina farms is milled onsite, before being mashed and fermented.
Find out how the lightly alcoholic grain is distilled, brought to proof, and bottled. At the end of the tour, taste one of Doc Porter’s scratch-made products: their wheat vodka is carbon filtered and brought to proof with reverse-osmosis water, and Doc Porter’s gin is vapor-infused with spices, botanicals, herbs, and citrus. Learn why Doc Porter’s is aging their High Wheat Bourbon in three sizes of white American oak barrels, and ask about the upcoming Doc Porter’s rye.
Note: The production facility is not-climate controlled, so bring season-appropriate clothing along with photo ID. Tastings are for visitors 21 years and older, but accompanied minors are welcome on on the distillery tour.
