This tour was extrememely disappointing. This was due to the rudeness of the tour guide and the abuse of the bus driver., who handled the bus in a dangerous manner. I do not recommend this tour operator.

The guide was initially friendly to the point of being too familiar, and he insulted me and several other passengers on the tour with his off-hand ageist and racist remarks and general conduct. The itinerary was different to that advertised, and we visited a jade factory on the way to the Great Wall, shortening our time to explore and experience the main attraction. The tour guide became increasingly rude when none of the tour guests purchased jade products. He also began to hustle guests through the included lunch 15 minutes after we sat down to eat, basically telling people to shut up and eat, then get back on the bus.

He had mentioned earlier that the bus would travel via the Beijing Olympic site and that we could view the contemporary architecture as we passed by. But, perhaps because the guide slept from the moment the doors closed at the end of lunch, we missed the turn off. Who knows. We were flung out of the bus again to 'experience' a tea ceremony, which was not so much a ceremony as a tasting. And not surpisingly, when no one purchased tea at the shop, we were again treated with contempt by the guide.

Instead of being dropped at our individual hotels the collection from hotels at the beginning of the tour took almost 2 hours, all except two passengers asked to be dropped to a nearby market for shopping. The guide initiallly agreed, although twice tried to offload passengers onto the subway as we passed these. When the passengers asked to remain on the bus, the guide, exasperated, stated that we cold all stay on the bus until midnight for all he cared, and then he simply got off the bus and walked into the distance. He neither said thankyou or even good bye. At the end destination, I was the last to disembark, and the bus driver started screaming abuse at passengers as he slammed the door behind us. To be treated by rude and abusive hosts is not what I paid my 98 dollars to experience. I would not use this tour company again, nor recommend it.

Had an excellent day at the Great Wall @ Mutianyu in a small group of 3 and our tour guide. She was very punctual and helpful. She called me the night before and confirmed the pick-up time and place and was at the hotel on time. The ride to the wall was comfortable and she gave us some useful background about the history of the Wall before we reached there. Her suggestions to take the cable car up and Toboggan down were spot on, as we enjoyed both rides thoroughly. While she did not join us to the Wall, her tips on the side of the wall we should walk were correct. Though slightly more steep it was less crowded and really beautiful. We got two hours there and managed a small walk the other side of the wall also. The place gets crowded very fast, so starting early is the smart thing to do. We had a beautiful clear day and got great photos and view. There are several steep steps and some moderate level of fitness is required to enjoy the experience. The lunch was simple but tasty and the time spent at the jade factory and tea shop were entertaining. I ended up buying more stuff than I thought I would, but happy with what I got. Its one big item off my bucket list..so all in a very satisfying experience.

Our tour guide Jackie gave us a fabulous Great Wall tour. Our tour was made extra special because of Jackie's insights and knowledge of Chinese history and culture. Could have used more time at the Great Wall to hike on both sides of Mutianyu. Lunch after the Great Wall visit was very nice, as was the Jade Factory visit. The best highlight after the Great Wall, though, was the Tea Ceremony. The teas were extraordinarily good, and the presentation was unique.

Overall, an excellent tour. Well paced: small friendly group. The tea house at end of tour was intersting but nit necessary.

This was one trip that we were really looking forward to but we must say how disappointed we were after visiting the site. Viators once again didnt let us down. The tour was well organised as usual.
We first briefly visited the jade factory which we enjoyed. Then we moved onto the Wall. Unfortunately the weather was not at its best. It was raining on and off on a very very humid day.
Our tour guide recommended that we used the cable car up to the top. She purchased the tickets for us and pointed us in the direction of where it left from. She didnt come to the top with us she stayed with the minibus
On the journey up to the top, the visibility diminished to a point where you could not see anything beyond 20 / 30 meters.
When we arrived on the wall the rain had made the area treacherous. We witnesssed two persons slip badly on the surface. One poor guy must have been 6ft 6ft and he slip flat on his back.. The Wall when the weather is like this should be shut down as its not fun putting your health at risk.
After slipping and sliding for about 75min we decided to call it a day and returned to bases of the Wall.
Why were we disappointed. Away from the weather, which nobody can control, there is no explanation of the history of the Great Wall not that we could find anything theres no tour brochures or guide books, nothing. Even our guide did not point anything out about the history or how it was constructed. Even on top of the Wall theres no explanation about everything. As somebody said later they had seen better garden walls
Following on from here we went for a enjoyable meal at the base of the Wall and then moved on to visit a Tea house.
We must say the demonstration at the tea house was first class. The lady who did the presentation spoke perfect English and her knowledge was excellent. We really enjoyed our visited here and purchased some albeit expensive tea. One tip if you want to buy a terracotta tea pot buy one from the markets in Beijing not from a tea house. Very expensive.
Overall this trip was good but not great but this was down to weather and nobody elses fault. It was well organised and well run.
On another day when the view is clear, I dare say the Wall is an amazing place to visit. But unfortunately for us this didnt happen.

Tour Stops: 1 Jade Factory, 2 Great Wall at Mutianyu, 3 Lunch, 4 Tea Shop.

The Jade Factory and Tea Shop were obviously over-priced tourist traps. I would have preferred more time at the Great Wall rather than stopping at these places. Lunch was very good, however, we were rushed out of the restaurant so another group could come.

The tour cost was very low and all transportation was provided, however, I would recommend picking a more expensive tour that does not have all the side stops.

Gale was our tour guide and what a lovely lady. She is very knowledgeable and patient and has a sense of humor! It is a bit of a ride out but this part of the wall is a MUST. Not very crowded, the gondola ride and the views were amazing. Gale told us where to take stand to take pictures for the best views. A very enjoyable day that she helped create.

I received a call from Jacky the night before to confirm pick up time, was requested to take a taxi to another hotel I used English app Didi Chuxing, Jacky reimbursed me later which I gladly obliged because the area I stayed is notorious for traffic jams. Jacky was my guide, in a small bus group of 10. Started with jade factory tour, then the Mutianyu Great Wall, and lastly tea house. Jacky was not pushy at the sales gallery. Jacky got the tickets for us at Mutianyu office, getting up by steps is too strenuous to reach the tower of Great Wall. Everyone heed Jackys advice, cable car up and down by the toboggan cant recall 120 or 140 yuan extra. Queued 15 mins each for cable car and toboggan. Time at the Wall approx 1 hr, which suffice given the heat/sun and steps. Our guide Jacky did not follow, but that was fine we roamed on our own.
- Turn right, trail leads up the higher hill and more picturesque, extremely steep steps but has hand rail, moderate fitness needed, to and fro approx 30mins.
- Turn left, easy and flat trail, this is a long trail but you can turn back any time
Jacky is fun, professional and courteous, his English is good by Chinese standard...he worked hard, and he deserved tips for the work well done.
Driver was fine in the morning but moody at the evening due to bad traffic jam.
