Mercedes-Benz Museum Tours

The futuristic, glass and steel prize-winning home of the Mercedes-Benz Museum was designed by Dutch architectural practice UNStudio and opened in 2006. As the only museum in the world dedicated to the world-famous luxury car brand, the displays romp through 125 years of automotive history on nine floors, displaying 160 cars from the very earliest petrol-powered vintage models through the Silver Arrows to today’s elite saloons. Along with showcasing the growth of Mercedes-Benz from its inception in 1886 to present day, the museum also provides an insight into the social history of Germany as it fought two world wars and the subject matter does not shirk away from the fact that Mercedes-Benz supplied limos for the senior officers of the Third Reich. Two interlinked tours wend their way through the museum, both ending up at an exhibition entitled ‘Fascination of Technology’, in which the cars and engines of the future are displayed and the impact of current
events on the car industry highlighted. There’s plenty for kids to do along the way, including self-guided trails, driving simulators and workshops (these should be booked in advance).

The 10th anniversary of the museum in 2016 is being celebrated with a raft of special activities designed to appeal to petrol heads and families alike, ranging from late-night openings to appearances by Formula 1 stars.
