St Anne's Church Tours

Hidden away in the maze-like backstreets of Cork’s Shandon district, St Anne’s Church is one of the city’s most impressive historic gems, and a remarkable example of an early-18th century church. Behind its unassuming red sandstone façade, the church’s vaulted ceiling and stained glass windows are a feast for the eyes, but the highlight for visitors is the 170-foot-tall bell tower, with its 3-meter-tall gold fish weathervane.

Climbing the 132 steps to the top of the tower affords spectacular panoramic views over the city and the River Lee, but visitors can also admire the ‘four-faced liar’, the church clock that tells a different time on each face, and ring the legendary Shandon Bells, a series of eight gigantic church bells.
