What better way to explore the life and accomplishments of a championship racer than through his cars? The Mansell Collection encompasses the career of Nigel Mansell and his quest to become the world’s greatest racer. His story, including becoming the F1 World Champion in 1992, is best told through his trophies, racing cars, suits and helmets, and other memorabilia on display in the renovated art deco space. There are interviews from and photos of Mansell playing throughout. It’s an intimate look into the life of a racer and into motoring history.
Beside the exhibit about Mansell’s life, there is an impressive showroom of pre-owned and new cars. Everything from super-mini cars to luxury vehicles can be seen. They’re hand-picked by experts and well displayed, and though some are for purchase there’s no pressure to buy. The array of cars adds to the overall motoring enthusiasm of the entire building.
The Mansell Collection is located on the island of Jersey off the coast of France. Of course the best way to get there is…by car, off La Route De St. Aubin. The museum is closed on Sundays.
